Okay, one of my new years resolutions for 2011 was to keep track of all the books that I read this year. I read a lot, but I have never really kept track. I was inspired by several friends who had challenged themselves to read 100 books in 2010 and they either met or exceeded their goals. Ryan also keeps track of every single book that he has read since June 15, 1990!! So this is new for me to keep a running list of my reading.

I read and reread a lot of Children's Literature and Murder Mysteries and stuff from favorite authors. A lot of John D. MacDonald this month, I have been rereading him and Agatha Christie lately. I had never read Mildred Pierce and was fascinated by it, remembering the movie with Joan Crawford. But the book really had me annoyed. Why that woman ever cared what her stuck up daughter thought of her is a mystery to me??!!
Riding Rockets was a terrific look at what modern day astronauts really go thru and I really enjoyed it (It was recommended in Packing for Mars)
The Passage is very similar to The Stand by Stephen King and I might have to reread The Stand this year too! :-)
Matched by Ally Condie is the start of a new YA trilogy that is very similar to The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I quite enjoyed it.
The photo at the top is from early 1990's when Lea Fox and I were shopping for books at a Nancy Drew (Whispered Watchword/Phantom Friends) convention in Maine.

You should try Goodreads.com It's a great way to keep lists of books that you have read and want to read. There are lots of author blogs, and recommended reading list based on how you rate books. :)
Interesting that Matched reminded you of the Hunger Games. I just finished Matched yesterday. I can see why you'd say that--because of the rebellious feeling toward the society. But, I think that's the only similarity. It reminded me more of City of Ember and The Giver.....there's a *little* bit of those in there too. But I did enjoy it!

Wow, you really DO read a lot! Are you able to read while on airline flights for your job?
Last month I had the privilege of being allowed into the home of a friend who is a compulsive hoarder. So fascinating! I went to the library to read up on the subject.

What are your reading inspirations? I have a hard time picking non-periodical material because I find the choices overwhelming. I need to go to our super used-bookstore to find some new authors. I'll have to give Goodreads.com a try.
I keep a spreadsheet on my iPhone (I'm sure it would work on your iTouch) of books I've read by year. It's always with me to jot down the latest title so I don't have to keep track of a piece of paper. I wonder if I've read all those books I bought in Maine (in the picture)?
