First Weekend of Hike-a-thon 2019!

I started off this year's hike-a-thon with a 2 mile hike on the Longfellow Creek Trail in West Seattle. This trail is very near my house and I do it every year for hike-a-thon.

A footbridge over Longfellow Creek

On August 2nd, I drove down to Tacoma and visited Point Defiance Park to do 4 miles on the Outside Loop Trail. I also stopped into Fort Nisqually. In all the years I have lived here and visited Point Defiance Park (and the Zoo) I have never gone to Fort Nisqually, so this was a first and I really liked it. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

The Outer Trail is fun because you get great views

Otherwise you are just in areas like this

Raccoons were everywhere.

Blue trail markers are for the Outer Loop Trail

Lovely madrona trees

You can see the Narrows Bridge in the distance

Also if someone donates before August 7th, they are putting our names into a drawing for prizes!! So if you have been waiting to donate for hike-a-thon. Now is the time to do it.

Hike-a-thon is in full swing now and I will be doing day hikes around Seattle on my layovers at home. I hope to do some of the Camino Portuguese when I have a layover in Lisbon, Portugal and I will be meeting Ryan during his through hike of the Pacific Northwest Trail and I will do some day hikes with him too!!

I hope I can count on all of you this year for support. Any amount from $1 to $100 is welcome. You can click on this link to go to my WTA fundraiser page
